Empire State of Climb ~

New York City is the hiking capital of the world. The trails upstate can’t beat the charge of a hike around the five boroughs. Here, your trailhead starts outside your front door, and the trail is ever-changing. It’s not a weekend escape. It’s a challenge you’re taking on every single day.

The Squirrel Census of 2019 determined there were over 2,300 squirrels in Central Park. You might just run into some wildlife on your hike. That’s why Eddie Bauer is putting together The Squirrel Patrol to catalogue and keep an eye on these critters through Instagram and TikTok. Join today and grab an Eddie Bauer Squirrel Patrol jacket for your next climb through the park.

This January, Eddie Bauer will be remodeling a bodega on the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge into The Brooklyn Ridge Landing. This snowy outpost will feature frigid temperatures, NYC trail maps, and hot sandwiches for the rest of your hike. Grab a chopped cheese for the climb as you continue the hike through Brooklyn.

In the spirit of “46ers”, the title one gets for climbing all 46 peaks of the Adirondacks, Eddie Bauer is introducing NYC 5er jackets for those who hike the five boroughs day in and day out. These jackets tell people that, although you haven’t left the city in months, you’ve been hiking every single day.

We’re partnering with AllTrails to create the Hike NYC App. Trail information and history will be available for routes and landmarks across the five boroughs. Locals will be able to log their hikes and tourists will be able to pick up some local lore as they get a few days of authentic hiking in.

Hike “The Eddie”

Eddie Bauer will partner with the New York City Parks Department to develop the first organized walking path that will connect all five boroughs “The Eddie”. This path will highlight bridges, parks, and riverside trails that showcase the best of what hiking in New York City has to offer.

The Staten Island Ferry will allow hikers to cross the Upper New York Bay.
